Jady Koch

Special guest

Before coming to St. Francis, Jady and his wife, Liza, spent the first five years of his ordained life working in the Church of England’s Diocese in Europe, first at St. George’s Anglican in Berlin and then at Christ Church Vienna in Austria. He was called to St. Francis in the winter of 2012. In January 2014, he accepted the call to be the third Rector of St. Francis in the Fields upon the retirement of The Rev. Robert T. Jennings in the fall of 2014. A graduate of Washington & Lee University (2000) and Trinity School for Ministry (2007), Jady finished his Doctorate in Systematic Theology at the University of Humboldt in Berlin, Germany in 2014 under the supervision of Professor Dr. Notger Slenzcka. His thesis, "Subjectum Theologiae: The Distinction Between Law and Gospel as the Basis and Boundary of Theological Reflection" (Mohr/Siebeck 2016), explores the interrelationship between the doctrine of justification by faith alone and the preaching and teaching ministry of the church. After an extended stay abroad, Jady and Liza, as natives of Baton Rouge and Raleigh, NC respectively, are happy to be back in the South and are overjoyed to be putting down roots in their "new" Kentucky home. Jady and Liza have a daughter, Tucker, and a son, John.
